I've loved working with The Box of Books Company to bring you two special book boxes: A Box of Hope (aged 9+) and A Box of Hugs (aged 3+)

Designed with children’s mental health and well-being in mind, this box has a focus on all of those mixed up feelings that children may be having during lockdown.

The box is centred around a book which will help children to process thoughts and feelings associated with the current pandemic. An ideas sheet accompanies the book with games, activities and conversation starters to help your child to explore their emotions alongside concepts and themes in the book.

A box of hope includes:

Book:
Where the World Turns Wild by Nicola Penfold

Resources:
Wild flower seeds
Feelings notepad
Mindful colouring sheets
Eco friendly pencil crayons
Affirmation card
Fetcha chocolate stars
Bookmark

A Bird and Blend tea bag to remind adults to take 5 minutes for themselves, (whilst their children are entertained) is also included.

More about the book in this box:

Where the World Turns Wild by Nicola Penfold.

Animals, trees, flowers, our city forbids them all...
Juniper Greene lives in a walled city from which nature has been banished, following the outbreak of a deadly man-made disease many years earlier. While most people seem content to live in such a cage, she and her little brother Bear have always known about their resistance to the disease, and dream of escaping into the wild. To the one place humans have survived outside of cities. To where their mother is...
When scientists discover that the siblings provide the key to fighting the disease, the pair must flee for their lives. As they journey into the unknown, they soon learn that there's cruelty in nature as well as beauty. Will they ever find the home they’re searching for?

Nicola Penfold wrote about a virus which changed the world. She could not possibly have known what would hit us this year but reading this book becomes even more poignant given our context. Important messages about the environment are intertwined with messages about love, about trust, and above all, about hope. Perfect for children and adults alike.
Recommended aged 9+

(Children aged 8 may also enjoy this book, depending on maturity and emotional resilience)
